The Tin Can Survival Cook Stove

I’ve seen these stoves go for upwards of $25 online. Being someone that prefers not to shill out cash for a piece if tin, I decided to post a how-to on making one of these stoves. As such, I’m not selling anything, I haven’t infringed on any copyrights so this info is completely free to use. Enjoy.

    For those who are …
For those who are confused, your fuel goes inside, and your pan sits on top.

You can also just cut off one top, and make one flue flap there on the side, and then punch holes on the other side all the way around the can using the sharp side of a bottle opener, you know the way you open a can of tomato juice, to make your stove “grill”. Put the fuel on the gound and the can on top. Less energy, but you do need dry ground.

    this is very clever …
this is very clever, however the same result could be had with leaving the tin can as is, merely adding a large enough hole for the fire to breathe! the legs and “tripod” are not necessary. again, its very clever, but in a survival situation thats a lot of work to go through when you can just use the can as is. or, since it saves more nutrients anyway, you can just build a fire and make stew/soup inside the empty can, leaving it whole.

I’m not being stupid, um, but….where does the fire go? Does it go inside the can? Or does the can go on the fire?

Would the fire need to be hot coals before you cook? Would’nt the coals come out of the can?
